A Key West Hurricane With Hemingway’s Pilar Rum

The legendary Hurricane was born at Pat O’Brien’s restaurant in New Orleans during the 1940s. Apparently, Whisky was in short supply after WWII, but rum was a-plenty. So head bartender Louis Culligan came up with the Hurricane as a way to get rid of all the unwanted rum in the bar. And although we don’t know much about Hemingway drinking Hurricanes, we do know that he loved his precious Key West, and his family established a rum label there called Pilar… and we gotta tell ya… It’s one of the best rums we’ve ever had… so good, that you can rink it straight, no mixers. But for now, here’s the recipe of a Key West Hurricane, using Hemingway’s Pilar.

2 oz Papa’s Pilar® Blonde
2 oz Papa’s Pilar® Dark
2 oz Orange juice
2 oz Passion Fruit juice
0.5 oz Lime juice
0.5 oz Grenadine
0.5 oz Simple Syrup

How to make it: Pour all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until well blended and chilled.
